I'm Dinesh Wijethunga, an AI Consultant and AI Developer based in Dubai, UAE. I bring 10+ years of software engineering experience across the UAE, Belgium, and Sri Lanka, combining applied AI development with my background as a Senior Software Engineer, Tech Lead, and Senior Full-Stack Developer.
My AI work includes retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), a production Arabic/English voice assistant, AI-assisted content workflows, and applications combining LLM agents with machine learning. I work with Anthropic Claude, Python, PostgreSQL/pgvector, and speech services, supported by a full-stack foundation in Laravel, PHP, React, Next.js, TypeScript, and Node.js.

Help Guide Search — RAG & AI Evaluation

Built a retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) prototype for product help guides using Python, PostgreSQL, and pgvector. It combines vector and keyword search, exposes retrieval through MCP tools, and checks Claude-generated answers against retrieved sources for citations, numbers, and links. Evaluation compares retrieval methods and a title-selection baseline on separate development and held-out test questions.

Built a Laravel workflow where Claude suggests a short headline and selects a cover palette. The application validates the response, renders the image with a fixed layout, and falls back to the article title and a default palette when needed.

Previously, as Technical Lead at Kief Consultancy and Technology in Abu Dhabi, I took Taggo, a UAE ride-hailing and fleet platform, from blueprint to launch on the App Store and Google Play. I led a team of six engineers, integrated payments through Stripe, Telr, Tabby, and Tamara, and shipped the first version of the app's Arabic/English voice assistant using Claude, Deepgram, and Cartesia.
At Kief, I added automated tests and builds to every pull request. Earlier, as a Senior Software Engineer at Curve Spark in Dubai, I introduced unit testing and continuous integration to an email marketing platform. At Cadima You See, I built a recruitment and visa platform and improved database access by removing N+1 queries with eager loading and MySQL indexes.

Why I Write DineshStack
DineshStack is where I share what I learn building AI applications and web systems: RAG and retrieval evaluation, LLM integration, voice AI, automation, Laravel and Next.js development, API design, debugging, deployment, and the decisions behind production systems. My articles and case studies explain the problem, the approach, and the lessons I would take into the next project.
I also write about the career side of engineering. Having moved from Sri Lanka to a tech role in the UAE, I built a free UAE tech CV checker to help other developers prepare for that move. It runs entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
